JOB SUMMARY:
Perform mechanical inspection on tight-tolerance components according to approved drawings and specifications. This includes reviewing supplier certifications and performing visual and dimensional inspection of parts using sampling plans and a variety of inspection tools and equipment. Responsible for ensuring compliance with quality procedures, customer requirements, and other regulations.
Essential Job Functions:
Receiving mechanical inspection of completed precision component parts to drawing and purchase order requirements.
Review of all required documentation and certification per component drawing and purchase order requirements.
In-process inspection of precision machined parts.
Final inspection of completed mechanical assemblies.
Create programs in Calypso and/or PCDMIS software
Create set-up instructions for CMM operation
CMM operation of existing programs
Data input of inspection reporting in M.S. Access and M.S. Excel, DISCUS software and Net-Inspect
Processing of non-conforming product
Aid with inspection planning and training of peers
Some lifting of up to 50 lbs. may be required for this position
Other related duties as assigned
Qualification:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 15 years experience as a mechanical inspector or related experience.
Ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
Minimum 3 years experience programming CMM on Calypso and/or PCDMIS Software
Proficient in setup and programming without supervision.
Available for 1st shift.
Ability to create a standard inspection report as well as a First Article Inspection Report per AS9102
Experience with DISCUS Software or Net-Inspect a plus.
Comprehension:
Ability to read and interpret Blue Prints and customer and industry specifications.
Complete knowledge and application of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GDT) including understanding of True Position and structure. Ability to manually calculate True Position from Cartesian measurement without the use of a chart.
Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9000, AS9100 or equivalent.
Mathematical Skills:
Advanced shop math calculation including trigonometry and geometry.
Equipment Skills:
Complete proficiency of all inspection hand tools and gages, calipers, Micrometers, Indicators, Height gages, etc.
Capability of thread wire calculations and measurement.
Complex inspection equipment such as Comparator, Bore gage setup with gage blocks.
Complex surface plate set-up.
Complete understanding of casting forging layout inspection.
Familiar with Contracer and Surface analyzer a plus.
Computer Skills:
Moderate to advanced knowledge of Windows Operating system and applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Access.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to determine and communicate required inspection of product.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to evaluate and determine Pass or Fail conditions for dimensional and process applications.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables and apply an appropriate course of action.
