CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

This position will be responsible for supporting the overall operations of the Breen Technology Central Raw Materials (CRM) process. The materials managed through this process are critical to the ongoing product development and maintenance of business efforts of the organization. This individual should be interested in proactively interfacing with vendors, suppliers, and internal Sherwin-Williams personnel to maintain and continuously improve the operation of the Central Raw Materials process.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain, track, and organize raw material and supply inventory in Central Raw Materials (CRM). Includes activities such as container handling, raw material transfers, recordkeeping.
  • Quality assurance for materials maintained in CRM sustained through testing, sampling activities, and inventory management.
  • Optimize CRM processes, including facilitation of CRM Continuous Improvement Team meetings and activities.
  • Coordinate with Buyer and vendors to order raw materials and communicate with vendors to track order status.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and safety processes in CRM areas, including conducting routine housekeeping such as mopping, cleaning work surfaces.
  • Conduct basic preventative maintenance procedures for mixers and other equipment used in CRM process.
  • Interface with various vendors or R&D personnel regarding raw material issues and/or CRM improvements, including but not limited to; material shortages, material contamination, vendor order issues, alternate materials, addition/deletion of materials from room inventory, equipment/process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Associate degree in Chemistry OR 4 years of relevant work experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry
  • KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 1-2 years’ experience with raw materials or procurement.
  • Experience communicating at several layers of an organization
  • Experience in chemical storage and waste disposal procedures.
  • Excellent organization, planning and project management skills
  • Driven, independent project management style

Preferred:

  • Experience in the areas of existing Sherwin-Williams Technical Formulation
  • TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Working knowledge of coatings formulation methods and techniques.
  • Experience with existing Sherwin Williams systems in the areas of Technical, EH&RS, Purchasing, Operations or Quality
