Full-Time Maintenance Tech I

As a full-time Maintenance Tech I, you will be responsible for helping to design and build new rooms across various Sherlock's and Mastermind sites, maintaining building and prop function/aesthetics for the escape room locations in our TX market (Fort Worth and Farmers Branch), and provide operational support to the store manager for your home location in Texas as a Game Master when not on construction or maintenance assignments.

Primary responsibilities: Helping to maintain the structural and aesthetic integrity of our escape games with quality prop and aesthetic builds, planning repair work using local maintenance log or equipment manual as needed, and assists with new game installs. Travel to each site for room builds, installs, and maintenance will be required, as well as any additional travel for site specific issues on an as needed basis. Examples may include: low voltage installation or repairs, installing room decor, building and installing a faux fireplace with emags and sensors.

Performs routine maintenance on building systems as needed or coordinating it with site personnel. Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities. Help design and build new rooms across various sites. Supporting the senior management with assigned projects. Travel will be required as part of this job.

Secondary responsibilities: In addition to routine repair, maintenance and construction, the job responsibilities include game mastering at your home site when not on maintenance/construction assignments. This includes hosting games, upholding site and company standards, phone answering, booking reservations, merchandise sales, customer relations, performing opening/closing duties, etc.

Minimum QUALIFICATIONS

· Must be at least 18 years old with reliable transportation and flexible schedule

· Up to 1 year of hands on experience in either or both carpentry and low voltage electrical

· Work weekdays, sometime weekends, and some holidays depending on repairs needed

· Maintain a minimum average of 35 or more work hours per week

· Through game mastering, leadership duties or maintenance or construction projects

· During slow periods, possible training or game master responsibilities

· Positive attitude and high level of energy, focus, and engagement

· Knowledge of general carpentry and repair

· Knowledge of electrical components and low voltage relays

· Excellent communication, public speaking, and customer service skills

· Strong attention to detail and excellent memory skills

· Knowledge of industry standards, including but not limited to adhesives, fasteners, building materials, and terminology.

· Strong organizational skills

· Demonstrated computer and leadership skills

· Already have or able to learn Senior Game Master skill base

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

In addition to the Tech qualifications, they are also responsible for the following:

  • Construct new rooms as needed with the maintenance team
  • Assisting with prop builds
  • Learn and practice essential carpentry and prop-making skills
  • Prepping props for painting (routing, sanding, filling, etc)
  • Track work progress and communicate status to leaders
  • Basic paint finishes
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment
  • Installing props, games, and puzzles
  • Keep the shop in good working order
  • Maintain facility/props (i.e., repairing damaged or worn props, cleaning, etc.)
  • Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs
  • Update location documents (i.e., training grids, prop functions, etc.)
  • Provide operational support to store manager as assigned even if for multiple locations Required

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to follow instructions from Senior Management or Owners
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
  • Knowledge of electrical components and low voltage relays.
  • Knowledge of industry standards. Including but not limited to adhesives, fasteners, building materials, and terminology.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Related experience required
  • On-the-job training offered

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel during new location installs. Approximately 2-3 weeks at a time, up to 10 times per year.
  • Ability to travel for maintenance needs at various sites. Approximately 3-7 days at a time, up to 6 times per year.
  • Ability to travel to receive or provide training. Approximately 3-7 days at a time, up to 6 times per year

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 45 per week
