Sheridan Hills Christian School is Hiring an Athletic Director (2024-2025 school year) Near Hollywood, FL

Purpose Statement: The Athletic Director is responsible for growing and directing the school’s Athletic Program. To help advance the mission and vision of Sheridan Hills Christian school with a biblical perspective.

Personal Qualifications:

  • A born-again believer with a testimony of salvation by receiving Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.
  • An active member in good standing of a Bible-believing church.
  • Public and private life that demonstrates Biblical qualities of a Christian role model, at home, work, and in the community.
  • Practice principles of Christian growth including prayer, study, witnessing, and discipleship.
  • Model Christian virtues in attitude, speech, and action.
  • Exhibit the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22,23)
  • Model and cultivate habits of prayer, faith, and encouragement.
  • Commits and contributes to a local church.
  • Must possess Biblical knowledge and the ability to integrate Scripture into the educational process.
  • Must have an understanding of and commitment to SHCS’ educational objectives and philosophy of education.
  • Display a personal decorum that models professionalism, modesty, and good taste.
  • Must have sufficient health and physical endurance to be able to complete the assigned responsibilities.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Shows a positive, cheerful attitude with parents, students and staff.
  • Shows integrity in dealing with confidential information.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Must hold a BA/BS from four-year college or university. A Master’s degree (MA) or equivalent is preferred. Prior successful experience working in school administration and coaching positions strongly preferred.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills, with proper command of the English language.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, G Suite, FACTS SIS or similar platforms required.
  • Able to work well independently, manage time well, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Effective leadership, communication and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of athletic laws and regulations as well as the ability to research and interpret.
  • Strong negotiation and public relationship skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Director of HR in the interviewing and selection of coaches. Makes employment recommendations to the Director of HR and Head of School.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of athletic events, officials/referees for home games.
  • Coordinates with coaches on team travel, game scheduling and practice sessions.
  • Provides leadership, coordination, promotion and guidance for all sports activities and programs such as games, practices, fundraisers, etc.
  • Supervises athletic games and acts as the host to officials and visiting schools.
  • Responsible for the purchase and maintenance of athletic equipment and facilities.
  • Ensures compliance with FHSAA rules and regulations and any other governing agencies.
  • Prioritizes safety as a main objective for athletes and coaches, ensuring adherence to all medical and safety requirements.
  • Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
  • Professionally represents SHCS in interactions with parents, community, staff and students.
  • Acts as a liaison with selectors, leagues and other agencies.
  • Coordinates with the head coaches and ensures that all athletes have received the necessary athletic clearances prior to the start of practices.
  • Able to develop and implement athletic programs.
  • Maintains an awareness of industry events and changes, such as regulation changes.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Keeps the Head of School abreast of any major issues (coaching changes, incidents, program changes, etc.) on a regular basis.
  • Provides executive leadership and oversight that leads the growth and continual improvement of the school’s athletic program.
  • Ensures that all aspects of the athletic department advances the vision, values, and philosophy of the school.
  • Supervises and evaluates all coaches with major focus of building rapport and buy-in for program growth.
  • Provides vision, guidance and training of the coaches as needed.
  • Tracking and reporting on team progress through analyzing past performances, recent successes, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare budgets for athletic programs and allocate athletic funds.
  • Advises and ensures all coaches conform with FHSAA and/or league policies and regulations and with state and federal laws.
  • Ensures all coaches have successfully completed required training/orientation programs.
  • Attends in-service meetings, league meetings, and other athletic meetings as required.

Other Responsibilities

  • Teach classes as needed.
  • Serve as head coach for a minimum of one varsity sport.
  • Assists as back-up coach when needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
