Description

Position: Echocardiography/Vascular Technologist

Reports To: Diagnostic Imaging Manager

Schedule: PRN

Position Location/Department: Diagnostic Imaging

Job Summary: The Reg. Echo Tech performs quality echocardiographic studies as ordered by the physicians as well as the performance of all other non-invasive cardiac procedures within the Cardiology Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs echocardiographic studies considering the age-specific physiological, emotional and cognitive needs of the patient
  • Consistently performs quality Doppler and color Doppler Exams
  • Acquires quality Dobutamine images according to Physician and benchmark standards (post exercise image acquisition at 60 seconds or less)
  • Performs quality Trans Thoracic according to physician expectations
  • Demonstrates understanding of cardiac disease processes in order to obtain complete acquisition of images for clinical diagnosis by the reading cardiologist
  • Reports pertinent information or changes of patients condition to cardiologist
  • Has a basic understanding of acquired images
  • Reports findings or concerns to reading physician for prompt interpretation
  • Educates patients and/or patients family regarding procedures performed and communicates effectively with patient and/or family
  • Notifies the reading cardiologist of any referral studies to be read
  • Performs all related processing required for each completed study

Qualifications


  • Education, Experience and Other Requirements:
  • Credentials from ARDMS or CCI in adult echocardiography
  • Must be able to work independently with no supervision
  • Must be confident in reporting findings to off-site cardiologist via PACS
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of normal cardiovascular system
  • 2 years of experience
  • Additional preferences:
  • Credentials in Vascular Technology from ARDMS or CCI
  • 3 years of independent scanning experience
