General Summary:

  • The Nurse Residency Program (NRP) Coordinator is a Registered Nurse with demonstrated clinical and instructional expertise with responsibility for the leadership, oversight, and coordination of the Professional NRP.
  • This position provides assessment, planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of the NRP, and development, implementation and coordination of learning resources.
  • This position provides administration, management, and evaluation of nurse residents in collaboration with Nurse Managers while monitoring coach/mentor performance.
  • The NRP Coordinator collaborates with other stakeholders, disciplines and departments internal and external to Sheppard Pratt, as appropriate, while providing an environment that fosters full team member engagement.
  • The NRP Coordinator possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively apply all aspects of the professional nurse residency program within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting including the incorporation of professional standards of care and evidence-based practice.
  • The NRP Coordinator is also responsible for administering the Tobacco Dependence Treatment program, supported by a grant from the Maryland Department of Health.
  • This role entails some direct service provision as well as collaborating to ensure that the services are provided consistently and using evidence-based practice.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Must have a BSN or in pursuit (obtained within 1 year of hire) and have completed a nursing program with license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland. MSN preferred.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, diagnoses and treatment and comfort working with people with acute psychiatric illness.
  • At least one year of relevant clinical program experience; familiarity/expertise with motivational interviewing and experience as a clinical educator strongly preferred.
  • Ability to collect and analyze program data and write progress reports.
  • Must be a non-smoker or former smoker (no tobacco or nicotine use in the past year).
  • National Certification in Education, Quality, and/or Behavioral Health preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum planning, adult learning, evidence-based practice process, and instruction. Computer literate, including use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and various related software applications.
  • In keeping with the Maryland Board of Nursing guidelines, all nurses must have an active Maryland nursing license to practice in the state of Maryland, or must have an active license in a compact state that allows them to practice in Maryland, if they reside in that compact state. A multistate licensee who changes primary state of residence to another party state shall apply for a multistate license in the new party state within 60 days. The rule requires that a nurse apply for a new license in a new primary state of residence within 60 days of relocating, it does not require the new license be issued withing 60 days.
