Shepherd's Coffee Company is Hiring a Barista Near Butler, PA

JOB PURPOSE: The Barista is responsible for providing customers with a positive experience through their responsibilities related to taking orders, fulfilling orders, and performing administrative tasks around the shop. The Barista is the first point of contact for many customers!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Register:

  • Greet customers in a friendly manner and take food, pastry, and drink orders
  • Answer customers’ questions about menu choices
  • Promote and recommend menu options to customers
  • Take payment from customers
  • Box up pastries as that are part of an order.
  • Count the drawer at the beginning and end of shift.
  • Communicate customer feedback to managers

Barista / Bar Back:

  • Prepare and serve beverages following recipes, ranging from drip coffee to specialty lattes
  • Understand how to operate all coffee equipment including grinders, espresso machines, steam wands, drip coffee machines, etc.
  • Perform shift opening/closing tasks such as dialing in the grinder and espresso machine, testing shot output, and cleaning espresso equipment.

Food Preparation:

  • Prepare and serve food items such as sandwiches and pastries
  • Maintain stock of food ingredients.

Administration/Other:

  • Maintain inventory supplies to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain a sanitary and organized working environment through routine cleaning
  • Practice basic safety procedures with respect to equipment and handling hot food and beverages
  • Evaluate and suggest processes to improve efficiency and quality of service

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress is a plus
  • Excellent multitasker
  • Excellent customer communication skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts
  • Regular and consistent attendance and accountability
  • Ability to work in a team environment
