Veterinary Assistant Job Ad

Shelter Outreach Services of Ohio is a non-profit veterinary clinic that provides affordable veterinary care to animal rescue groups, shelters, and the low-income public. As a 501(c)(3) organization we receive donations that are used to help provide necessary care to animals whose owners could not otherwise afford it. This means we don’t have to turn people away for cost of care, allowing animals to stay in their homes and out of shelters!!

We are currently looking for a veterinary assistant to join our team at either of our two locations. We have a veterinary clinic at 3500 E Livingston Ave Columbus OH 43227 and we also operate out of the Franklin County Dog Shelter at 4340 Tamarack Blvd Columbus OH 43229.

Essential Job Functions:

· Know basic veterinary medical concepts (training provided).

· Communicate in a professional and effective manner with all staff, rescue partners, and the public.

· Ability to intake and release patients including giving post-operative instructions in a clear and concise manner (training provided).

· Ability to follow all written and verbally communicated standard operating procedures.

· Ability to monitor anesthesia and identify abnormal or emergent anesthetic conditions (training provided).

· Ability to administer vaccines, medications, and other treatments as requested (training provided).

· Ability to take directions from a veterinarian or registered veterinary technician.

Requirements:

· NO experience required!!! We WILL train you!

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· 7:30am-6pm availability.

· Weekend availability preferred.

· Fear Free Certified preferred but not required.

· Willingness to learn safe handling techniques.

· Ability to lift up to 40lbs throughout the day without assistance.

· Ability to bend and kneel repeatedly.

· Ability to stand for 8 hours at a time.

Pay is $14-17 an hour, based on experience.

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
