POSITION SUMMARY: Much of the work involves repetitive physical labor such as climbing up and down a ladder (100-200 times per day) while carrying a refueling hose, climbing in and out of a refueling truck, and operating equipment while strictly adhering to safety regulations. This position involves contact with flight instructors, flight students, and other aviation personnel. As a representative of Sheltair, the employee is expected to exhibit a positive attitude, exercise tact and extend courtesy to customers and other employees. The employee will be working outside in all weather conditions and must be able to tolerate heat or cold, wet or dry weather. This position includes shift work which requires working evenings and weekends and on scheduled company holidays. Additional days/hours may be required during busy periods of time. The individual performs many duties, some of which are listed below.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Alertly and consciously perform all duties and responsibilities with safety as the highest priority
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude, while providing prompt and courteous service
  • Safely and efficiently refuel aircraft as requested
  • Provide oil service (add oil to the engine) for aircraft as requested
  • Accurately record refueling and oil deliveries electronically
  • Sump fuel tanks and trucks daily and record findings
  • Keep the work area and work vehicle clean and tidy
  • Comply with all Company, Airport, and Customer regulations and rules
  • Work shifts as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic mathematical knowledge
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug screen
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and be insurable by Company insurance policy (Requires clean driving record)
  • Must successfully complete the Company’s training programs
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Must be able to work outside in hot and cold temperatures, wet or dry weather

While performing the daily functions of this job, the employee occasionally will work near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration. Line Service Technician will work with fuels and chemicals that may pose a serious health and/or safety hazard if improperly handled. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
