Works under general supervision of the Manager A to provide case management of post-adjudicatory cases at Juvenile Court.
Pay Grade: 45
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
1. Two (2) years of counseling experience, preferably with youth; AND
2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social science, psychology, criminal justice, behavioral sciences or related degree; OR
3. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
1. Develops and supervises treatment and case action plans for the youth in hopes of identifying treatment and rehabilitation needs, which will ultimately reintegrate the youth back into the community.
2. Maintains consistent contact with the youth and their parent/guardian via telephone calls and office conferences.
3. Provides front line day-to-day and crisis support to post adjudicated youth and their families.
4. Prepares and compiles legal documents i.e., petitions, summonses, subpoenas, Affidavits of Complaints and Attached Pro Corpus.
5. Prepares all notices, forms and documents for judicial and non-judicial conferences.
6. Visits youth within your caseload that may be held in detention.
7. Administers random drug screens during office conferences.
8. Prepares for and attends court proceedings.
9. Makes appropriate referrals for juveniles charged with delinquent offenses and monitor to ensure children are compliant with the court’s requested intervention.
10. Compiles statistical data for monthly reports and maintains weekly notes of interest on assigned cases to a computerized case management database.
11. Serves as a liaison with local schools to obtain required support information such as school records, disciplinary actions and truancy records. Assists parents with enrollment in an alternative school or other educational facility.
12. Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings to assist in coordinating case management and to review treatment plans.
13. Seeks additional supervision or consultation as needed and follow through with supervisory directives.
14. Performs other related duties as required or directed.
1. Knowledge of Juvenile Justice System.
2. Knowledge of fitting and removing using a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS), as well as, entering data and monitoring the youth.
3. Knowledge of modern counseling techniques.
4. Ability to plan, organize and maintain an even flow of work.
5. Ability to deal courteously with the public.
6. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with associate agencies.
7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-worker and clients.
8. Knowledge of community resources for children and families.
9. Ability to write meaningful reports and case histories.
10. Knowledge of juvenile problems and causes.
11. Ability to involve needed sources and resources in the guidance and rehabilitation of children.
12. Ability to engage in public speaking required.
13. Ability to use a computer in a PC network environment.
14. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
