The primary role of the Registered Nurse is to provide direct nursing care to residents, maintain communication between all health care workers and supervise the daily work assignments, care plans and performance of nursing staff. An effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position, however, this does not imply that the following are the only duties required to perform:
  • Evaluate and document health status, provide care and treatment in accordance with physician orders and standards of practice and communicate changes with health care team, family and resident
  • Understand and promote the concept of individualized nursing care for diversified populations while providing the highest quality of care and staying in compliance with current guidelines and regulations
  • Attend ongoing in-service education programs provided by facility
  • Graduate of an accredited/licensed school of nursing and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin as defined by S.441.11(1) Wisconsin Statues.
  • Prior experience in geriatrics, medical, surgical, psychiatric or with developmentally disabled preferred
  • Ability to handle crisis intervention situations as directed, plan and direct the work of others, and effectively carry out instructions
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Specific hearing abilities required by this job include, hearing conversation in noisy and quiet environments, locating a sound source and differentiating among non-speech sounds, communicating through speech.

  • Ability to adapt to changes in daily work hour and schedule.

  • Initiate timely emergency resuscitation measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols.

  • Risk of blood borne pathogen exposure is considered high.
