The Optical Coating Technician performs operations associated with the facet coating of semiconductor laser bars. All work takes place in a well-ventilated, cellphone-free cleanroom.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform thin-film deposition operations using sputtering or electron-beam technologies.
• Perform setup, calibrations, modifications, and preventative maintenance on vacuum coater
• systems under Engineering direction.
• Measure and inspect coatings using a microscope, spectrometer, and/or ellipsometer.
• Clean laser bars using solvents such as isopropanol, methanol, and acetone.
• Load/unload laser bars into/from coating fixtures using a vacuum wand or tweezers.
• Proactively communicate process and/or equipment issues to Engineering.
• Perform other production duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent, with six months to one year of relevant experience and/or training.
• Excellent fine motor skills, including the ability to handle small, fragile materials with precision tools.
• Comfortable wearing full cleanroom attire.
• Good oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to follow written operational procedures.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
