Shawano Municipal Utilities is looking to hire an energetic, skilled Journeyman Lineman or a person interested in becoming an Apprentice Lineman.

Our workplace is fun with a variety of tasks that make the day go by fast. We will be moving into our brand-new 28,000 square foot Headquarters, Garage and Warehouse facility this summer and we have several pieces of brand-new equipment to use.

This Position:

• Operate electrical vehicles including bucket and digger derrick trucks, excavation equipment, and forklifts.
• Maintenance, repair, construction, and operation of high voltage underground and overhead electrical systems.
• Maintenance, repair, construction, and operation of low voltage underground and overhead electrical systems.
• Substation inspections, maintenance, repair, construction, and operation.
• Trim and remove trees and other vegetation.
• Calm and respectful interaction with utility customers.
• Train apprentice lineman.
• Attend and participate in safety related training.
• Test, repair, and maintain revenue metering locations.
• Locate underground electric and fiber optic facilities.
• Check out and record used electric and fiber optic inventory materials.
• Accurately read and record data from utility electrical and water meters.
• Fiber optic cable installation.

Normal working hours are Monday – Friday 7:00AM to 3:00PM. Schedule may be adjusted during summer hours.

Minimum Qualifications - Journeyman:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Journeyman Lineman certificate from an accredited trade school with on-the-job training.

Completion of an apprenticeship with on-the-job training.

Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and a good driving record, required.

Valid Wisconsin commercial driver’s license, required within 90 days of employment.

This position is subject to DOT random drug and alcohol testing.

Minimum Qualifications - Apprentice:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Graduation from an Electric Power Distribution Course preferred but not a requirement.

Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and a good driving record, required.

Valid Wisconsin commercial driver’s license, required within 90 days of employment.

This position is subject to DOT random drug and alcohol testing.
