SHAW ELECTRIC is Hiring an Experienced Low Voltage Technician Near Davenport, IA

JOB SUMMARY:

The Low Voltage Technician will be organized and possess excellent communication skills and the ability to conduct research to find solutions. This position is responsible for installation of cabling, pathways and low voltage devices while collaborating electricians and customers to provide timely and valuable service to customers.

*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Install cable and devices for low voltage systems including data, fire alarm, door access, HVAC and lighting controls.
  2. Proficiency in layout of low voltage systems
  3. Ability to troubleshoot problems as necessary utilizing resources to find solutions.
  4. Exhibit excellent communication skills with subcontractors and job site supervisors for installation deadlines and scheduling needs.
  5. Experience reading and interpreting blue prints.
  6. Ensures all work at job site is performed in a safe manner. Follows all safety procedures, conducts safety meetings and toolbox chats, and encourages others to work safely. Attends required safety training. Promotes and documents safe work practices to ensure compliance with customer, OSHA and company guidelines.
  7. Mentors apprentices and shows how to accurately and efficiently complete tasks.
  8. Assists with project job material - including ordering, receiving material on-site (checking for accuracy and condition of material), processes paperwork promptly, and ensure timely return and check-in of unused materials.
  9. Responds to emergency situation during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate concerns.
  10. Participates in jobsite meetings and communicates with owners, site managers, inspectors, engineers, workers in related crafts, etc as needed.
  11. Participates in continuing education classes to maintain current knowledge of industry trends and technologies, and/or to meet minimum education requirements as determined by Shaw Electric, Inc., or government agencies.
  12. Willingness to obtain further NICET and BICSI certifications as determined by the company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience - High School Diploma or GED required; 3-5 years' experience in the electrical field or related field

Licenses/Certifications - Must have valid drivers' license; NICET, BICSI (or equivalent) certifications preferred

Travel - Occasional - ability to travel occasionally to jobsites
