Sharp San Diego Surgery Center is Hiring a Nurse Manager Near San Diego, CA

Summary: The Nurse Manager collaborates with the Administrator and the Business Office Manager to ensure leadership in all clinical operations by facilitating success measures that enhance clinical strategic goals and objectives in accordance with sound general management principles, regulatory and accreditation standards, and the facility mission, vision, and values.

Essential Responsibilities will include the following, and other duties may be assigned.

Nurse Operations Duties:

· Provides oversight to all clinical team members in support of developing and implementing goals and objectives for nurse operations that are consistent with the direction of the surgery center.

· Plans, coordinates, and directs all aspects of the clinical operations. ie; nursing care, surgical techs, staffing and scheduling, oversight over all clinical staff and areas of operation with the ASC. The Nurse Manager will partner with all clinical leads to ensure that all staff are properly trained, staffing is consistent with industry standards and all new employees are provided orientation. The Nurse Manager is responsibile for all related staff activities to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

· Ensures that systems and processes are in place that maintains accreditation and regulatory compliance. Maintains proper records, logs, and ensure that all emergency drills are conducted. The Nurse Manager will also gather and report the Monthly Infection Control Audits and maintain these records. He/She will keep the Administrator / Director of Nursing informed of any / all pertinent operational items.

· Assists in the development of plans for cost containment in all clinical areas while ensuring the successful completion of goals.

· Assists management as a subject matter expert for all aspects of nursing standards and best clinical practices.

Patient Care Oversight Duties:

· Coordinates with other internal or external disciplines that are involved in providing patient care.

· Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care provided by coaching, training, and developing ancillary personnel while documenting findings.

· Evaluates outcomes and adjust the nursing care plans as necessary in consultation with other nursing staff and physicians. Documents patient care and the response received from the care provided by staff.

· Enhances patient flow by proactively coordinating with other departments for patient care.

· Assures that nursing staff is knowledgeable about the procedures performed while communicating efficiently with family or support persons.

· Ensures patient safety and care through the coordination of surgical technologists and surgeons.

· Ensures patient safety through transportation, transferring, and positioning.

· Evaluates outcomes and adjusts nursing care processes as necessary in consultation with other nursing staff and physicians.

· Reviews the productivity of the assigned department to ensure appropriate staffing as well as fiscal responsibility.

· Provides orientation and training for clinical staff, ensuring appropriate documentation.

· Proactively ensures patient safety through qualified staff, continuing education, and competency assessment of personnel, equipment, and overall physical facility safety.

· Manages the sterile processing technicians during operating room procedures to ensure safe patient outcomes.

· Directs patient care in clinical areas as needed.

Cost Controls Duties:

· Monitors the equipment, supply, pharmaceutical, and nursing staffing expenses at the surgery center, reporting variances to the Administrator, ASC while facilitating corrective measures as necessary.

· Collaborates with Administrator, ASC to determine equipment acquisition, equipment replacement, and capital budget requirements while communicating physician requests.

· Coordinates the materials management program, consulting with Administrator, ASC as necessary concerning operating room procedures.

· Develops and implement operational budgets that meet resource needs while ensuring that initiatives align with company goals and objectives.

Leadership Duties:

· Serves as a resource to all clinical staff for patient care policies and procedures while guiding on elevated patient care issues.

· Provides timely and pertinent staff meetings, maintaining accurate documentation.

· Delegates responsibilities to team members, fostering accountability among staff to ensure efficient operations.

· Maintains positive public relations with all customers, physicians, and staff to ensure high morale.

· Develops and maintains a culture of service in the department, connecting organizational values to actions.

· Monitors patient, physician, and patient satisfaction and coordinates performance improvement plans with the Administrator, ASC.

· Identifies problems by researching and identifying root causes and suggesting possible resolutions while proactively providing follow-ups.

· Develops and implement action plans for nursing staff.

Supervisory Duties:

· Holds direct reports accountable for each deliverable's performance and quality, ensuring that they are timely, complete, and up to company standards and ensuring the Company's core values are upheld.

· Manages employee performance with a consistent and constructive feedback cycle that takes a collaborative approach to employee development. Administers additional training and issues progressive discipline when appropriate.

· Proactively conducts workforce planning to ensure staffing availability meets service or product demands.

· Reviews punctuality and attendance timekeeping reports while holding employees accountable for company policy. Provides coaching, training, and progressive disciplinary action when necessary.

· Monitors and consistently enforces all meal and rest break policies for staff by ensuring compliance with state and federal laws. Audits employee timekeeping records for accuracy and ensures that meal and rest breaks are taken in a timely manner per company policy. Schedules meal breaks when appropriate.

· Communicates with staff on company policy or procedure changes and provides guidance or training when necessary.

Adapts or develops departmental training materials based on workforce skillset, conducts, or schedules training to meet company goals. Ensures compliance training requirements are met and conducted timely and in accordance with agency requirements

Qualifications: Successful individuals who perform the responsibilities of this position must perform their essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and abilities required. Education:

o Required: Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.

o Preferred: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.

Experience:

o Required: Minimum of three years of work experience and two years of supervisor experience in an ASC. ( OR, Pre-Op/PACU, Periop Services).

o Preferred: Minimum of three years of work experience and two years of supervisory experience in an ASC or surgical hospital.

Licensure and Certification:

o Required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support – ACLS, Basic Life Support Certification – BLS, Registered Nurse - State Licensure – RN.

Preferred: Certified Ambulatory Peri-Anesthesia Nurse - CAPA, American Society of Peri-Anesthesia Nurses – ASPAN, Association of Operating Room Nurses – CNOR

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $140,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
