Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in preparation and delivery of pharmaceuticals. Communicates with nursing. Performs auditing and other tasks as assigned. Checks assigned areas for expirations monthly.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in a related field preferred
  • Pharmacy Tech certification preferred
  • May be expected to meet certain state certifications
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Background clearance as requires by state and federal guidelines

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accurate and timely filling of patient medication orders, stock orders, narcotic orders, intravenous medication orders and delivery of those orders.
  • Accurate and timely entry of patient charges and credits.
  • Provides technical assistance for routine preparation of parenteral admixture products, medication cart fills, ADM stocking, and delivery of medications.
  • Works under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist following approved departmental policies and procedures. Abides by state, federal, and corporate regulations in the performance of all duties.
  • Supportive of all cost containment strategies including ordering of stock in conjunction with the pharmaceutical buyer.
