Shared Services Center Fort Smith is Hiring a Remote Remote Client Billing Specialist

This position is remote.

Summary: The Client Billing and Reimbursement Specialist - Level I, under the direction of Accounts Receivable Manager, ensures claims and invoices submitted to responsible entities are priced, billed, processed, and resolved per entity contract. This position’s goals are met through professional communication, confidentially and adherence to HIPAA guidelines, and a working knowledge of CMS/other payer guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (List in order of importance or percentage of time spent on the particular responsibility. High to Low)

  • Completion of client invoices by formatting, pricing, and billing processes. Employee must possess and maintain working knowledge of payer contracts, Medicare fee schedules, billing guidelines, coding methodologies (i.e.CPT, HCPCS, DRG), and insurance payer best practices. Includes the verification of completion and receipt of authorization per payer requirements, and the audit of medical records to retrieve clinical information per contract. (60%)
  • Use various methods (phone, web, fax, mail, e-mail) of contacting client payers to obtain payment status and details on submitted/unresolved claims and invoices in a clear and professional manner, per the payer’s preferred contact method. (15%)
  • Resolve payer denials through various methods of research, including correction of registration, coding, and/or documentation data. Research patient account(s) to ensure account integrity, using all available resources and tools (i.e., payer contracts, internal reference material, Medicare pricing tools). Reviews, investigates, and disputes technical denials. Use critical thinking to resolve account denials and payer barriers. (10%)
  • Take appropriate actions toward account resolution and appropriate balance. Includes payment reviews, application of adjustments, and balance reconciliation (i.e., credit resolution and verification of posting per payer guidelines). (10%)
  • Communicate clearly in all job responsibilities; this is done through discussions with management about payer trends as identified, detailed documentation and noting of accounts, and coordinate denial resolution with facilities. (5%)

Qualifications:

Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Required Experience: 1 year of experience in healthcare revenue cycle or business office.

Required License/Registration/Certification: None

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive

variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Use reasoning to meet and maintain department and personal benchmarks.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, spreadsheet

software and database software.
