We are currently seeking a PET/CT Technologist to join our team. Position offers a unique variety of duties and travel to multiple medical facilities.

Anticipated Schedule:

  • Average of 4 days a week with every other Saturday

  • Weekly guarantee of hours

  • Schedules subject to change

Responsibilities:

  • Competently perform imaging procedures, including administering contrast agents and radiopharmaceuticals

  • Perform equipment quality check and adhere to quality assurance guidelines

  • Maintain compassionate patient care, comfort and safety, while ensuring patient confidentiality

Qualifications:

  • Registered/registry eligible: NMTCB-CNMT or ARRT(N)

  • Ability to receive permit to practice(s) as necessary

  • Ability to produce quality special imaging with little supervision

  • Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check, urine drug screen and physical

GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK: Under the general direction of the Regional Operations Manager, with the clinical supervision of the reading physician at each site on the mobile route, performs examinations of patients of all ages for the purpose of assisting in the diagnosis of patient illness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs ordered examinations of appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site reading physician.
  2. Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during transport to and from the mobile coach/facility and during the exam.
  3. Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in company sponsored training programs.
  4. Maintains competency to administer proper IV injections of contrast material/radioactive material as directed by modality.
  5. Demonstrates proper Blood Glucometer QC and Testing protocol.
  6. Under guidance and approval of site Authorized User, administers radiopharmaceuticals according to site-specific protocols.
  7. Completes and signs the Patient Screening form and reviews/explains the procedure to the patient.
  8. Transports patients to and from the mobile coach/facility. 
  9. Provides images to the facility in the desired site format.
  10. Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems; places service calls and notifies all pertinent Team Members of issues.
  11. Assists with the set up and tear down of equipment in accordance with SMS and/or manufacturers’ guidelines.
  12. Maintains a clean environment inside and outside of the mobile coach/facility.
  13. Completes necessary administrative tasks (i.e. time reports, billing, QA, etc).
  14. Follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality.
  15. Cooperates with facility healthcare professionals and complies with facility policies/procedures.
  16. Complies with all safety policies and regulations including radiation safety.
  17. Maintains current Permits to Practice in all states in which services are performed, if required.
  18. Trains new Team Members as required and/or as assigned by the supervisor and/or SMS management.
  19. Performs additional duties as required.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

  1. Completion of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology Program required.
  2. Must be registered with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N) or obtain certification within six (6) months of employment.
  3. Must possess an active Permit to Practice where applicable and/or required.
  4. Must possess valid driver’s license with good driving record.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be able to properly perform injection procedures.
  2. Operating knowledge of Personal Computers (PC) and medical charting systems.
  3. Capable of a flexible work schedule, with possibility of 10 hour days.
  4. Must be able to interact with customer personnel and SMS Team Members in a responsible, professional and ethical manner.
  5. Must be able to produce high quality special imaging with little supervision.
  6. Must be willing and able to assist the Radiologist, as needed.
  7. Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  8. Must be flexible, reliable and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
  9. Ability to demonstrate competency in all applicable areas.
  10. Responsible for the following and adhering to TJC/SMS Quality Standards which includes, but is not limited to: CPR, immunizations, training (SMS and Site Specific), Infection Control, and Invasive Procedures (if applicable).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Work is primarily performed in mobile unit with frequent trips outside to transport patients during all seasons.
  2. Exposure to inclement weather from transporting patients to and from facility to mobile unit.
  3. Exposure to radiation.
  4. Mobile unit has artificial lighting, with some daylight from windows or doors.
  5. Possible exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues from working with patients and performing injections as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Sits, stands, and walks intermittently throughout the day.
  2. Climbs stairs to enter mobile unit and tractor.
  3. Squats or kneels and lifts objects from ground occasionally.
  4. Full extension of arms above head and in front of body.
  5. Frequently lifts weight of up to 10 pounds.
  6. Occasionally lifts weight of up to 75 pounds.
  7. Occasionally carries objects weighing up to 55 pounds.
  8. Occasionally push/pull objects with force of up to 72 pounds.
  9. May transfer patients weighing up to 500 pounds with a variety of assistance from other staff or equipment.
  10. Must possess good balance.
