Job Overview: Monitors & supervises the health & safety of children in a therapeutic social-emotional & early childhood classroom setting. Provides positive communication and collaborates with families, teachers, therapist, specialists & staff, to support children and ensure the overall success of the therapeutic program. Maintains confidentiality, keeping respect and privacy as top priorities. Plans, prepares, and implements developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed curriculum and lesson plans. Trains & mentors support staff. Functions as a professional, respectful team leader to create an environment that helps children thrive. Develops and implements weekly early childhood curriculum focusing on social emotional skills and cultural wellness. Oversees daily preparation of the environment to provide developmentally appropriate activities. Works with therapeutic team to help children with emotional dysregulation and/or upsets. Works with therapeutic team to develop individualized goals & complete observations.
Aware of sensory and special needs and neurodivergent affirming. Uses Conscious Discipline approach to see children's behavior as a form of communication and address underlying needs. Uses trauma-informed and developmental lens to build connection and safety for children. Oversees allergy, injury & incident procedures and response and completes documentation. Understands & implements evacuation/emergency procedures and keeps emergency supplies/data up to date. Releases children to only people authorized to pick up.
