Kids Kamp Lead Counselor

Overview: The Community Life Ministry offers summer camps for children grades K-6 called “Kids Kamp.” This ministry is focused on teaching students about the gospel while also providing quality, affordable childcare. Counselors will be asked to lead in structured activities, songs, games, and more during the summer. This is an 8 week program from May 28 - July 26 (we are closed July 1-5). 

Work Hours: 7:30am-5:30pm | Monday-Friday | Summer

Heart and Attitude:

• Have a heart for sharing the Gospel with children between Kindergarten and 6^th grade
• Work well with a team and with autonomy, modeling Christ-like behavior for/to everyone
• Model enthusiastic, energetic attitude for volunteer counselors and campers
• Be punctual and exhibit a strong work ethic

Responsibilities:

• Complete weekly administrative projects like track assignments, rosters, evaluations, etc.
• Prepare Bible Study workbooks
• Float and assist counselors as needed
• Responsible for coaching a group of 3-5 counselors daily in the afternoon and assist in track times as needed
• Attend Kids Kamp planning meetings (including a leadership retreat TBD)
• Help to plan and lead opening and closing rallies each day of Kids Kamp including cheers, chants, songs and silliness with others on leadership team
• Assist with registration and administrative tasks as needed
• Supervise and interact with campers during snack and lunch times
• Attend morning meeting and afternoon meeting
• Participate in the early and late shift rotation as assigned
• Handle discipline issues with children and note in discipline log as needed
• Know campers by name and lead games and “filler” activities as needed

Kamp Specifics:

• Understand the demands of a camp ministry that extend beyond a 40 hour work week
• Must be available weekdays beginning May 28 – July 26, from at least 7:30a-5:30p
• Attend Kids Kamp staff training May 10-11
• Handle minor first-aid issues
• Previous experience working with children in a ministry or education setting is preferred
