Department: MEDICAL STAFF SERVICES
Schedule: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift

POSITION SUMMARY Assist in the administration of contracts as required. Communicate and collaborate with Medical Staff members and Allied Health Professionals at all campuses for inpatient and outpatient services, especially with elected and appointed leaders. Compose and distributes monthly Medical Staff Newsletter. Coordinate and maintain Medical Staff bank accounts, including preparing monthly and quarterly reports for the Staff Treasurer. Develop and implement programs, operations, and budgets. Develop, evaluate, and implement the Strategic Plan regarding Medical Staff Services. Direct and coordinate Locum Tenens coverage and placement within SGMC. Facilitate all aspects of credentialing including, but not limited to; threshold criteria, credentialing, appointments, reappointments, temporary privileging, peer review, monitoring functions, ongoing professional practice evaluation, focused professional practice evaluation, and education. Facilitate all aspects of departmental organization and credentialing for Medical staff, Limited Licensing Professionals and Allied Health professional staff member at all SGMC campuses. Facilitate Medical Staff Committee meetings for all campuses, ensure accurate minutes are recorded for meetings, and prepare Medical Staff reports for the Hospital Authority. Facilitate procedures relating to all categories of Medical Staff privileges and functions. Maintain knowledge of new and changing accreditation, licensing, and educational requirements and assists in their implementation. Participate in the continuous readiness program for the Joint Commission. Perform administrative duties including preparing reports and financial data, train and supervise other support staff, and assist with special projects. Provide Administrative direction, leadership, and direct supervision of all Medical Staff Services personnel including evaluations, performance management, coaching, professional development, and succession planning. Provide Continuing Medical Education (CME) oversight. Provide oversight for continuous monitoring of primary source verification systems, sites, and programs and reports. Provides oversight of the Medical Library and the Medical Staff for new Medical staff members. Serve as a liaison to resolve service problems that decrease physician satisfaction; orient new physicians to South Georgia Medical Center (SGMC) mission and services. Work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and members of the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Committees of the Hospital Authority and others in regards to the Medical Staff. Other duties as assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Associate degree in Business or related healthcare field required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of five years supervisory and staff management preferred. Strong relationship-building and conflict resolution skills. Extensive knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, business correspondence and administrative skills required. Exhibit exemplary organizational, critical thinking, analytical, and strategic planning skills. Exhibit exemplary verbal and written communications skills Ability to adapt to changing schedules, deadlines, demands, and a heavy workload. CPMSM certification or willingness to obtain certification(s) preferred. Strong computer, internet, research, and database management skills. Ability to work in a discreet manner, maintaining confidentiality. 

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION • Office setting. Safe working environment, possibility of irregular work hours upon request. Perhaps some discomfort due to noise and crowded conditions. A moderate to high amount of stress at times. Involves sitting standing and bending.
