JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of the Network Engineer position is to design, build, and maintain the Summit Companies network infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Establishes and maintains network performance
  • IP address auditing
  • Secures network systems by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access
  • Responsible for overall network architecture
  • Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration and directing system installation across all branch locations.
  • Assists in the overall infrastructure/networking architecture solutioning
  • Defines, documents, and enforces system standards
  • Works directly with 3rd party service providers to provide overall management of the quality of services being provided.
  • Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed
  • Design, configure, and install Cisco switches and APs
  • Maintain SonicWall and Barracuda Firewalls
  • Implement IP templates per branch office
  • Document all networks in Visio and Excel
  • Lead ISP aggregation ongoing projects
  • Assist with integration with new branches being onboarded
  • Work autonomously on network infrastructure roll out
  • Serve as an on-call function for any infrastructure/Network outages and issues
  • Configure network gear autonomously
  • Document in Visio and Excel all network IP schemes and topologies by branch
  • Asset life cycle management - Proactively check for EOL on existing infrastructure, plan, and replace
  • Proactively watch for network outages and work them immediately as they come in
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully, however in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications and Experience may meet the job qualifications.

Education, Training, Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, required, or equivalent work experience.
  • CCNA or higher, preferred.

Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements:

  • 7 years network engineering experience, required.
  • Network design and implementation experience
  • Tracking budget expenses
  • Problem solving and analytical experience
  • Strong architecture and documentation experience
  • Experience leading and managing large IT projects and rolling out IT infrastructures across various technologies, preferred.
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize, preferred.

Communication Skills:

  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.

Systems and Software Skills:

  • Proficiency in Cisco Catalyst IOS, Aruba, Site to Site tunnels, Extensive Firewall, L3 experience, Meraki Aps, Radius Authentication, Cate5e, and Cat6 termination.

Other Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Must be able to comply with SFPH's Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement
  • Occasional travel required, up to 25%.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods. Employee will occasionally be required to bend, kneel, balance, lift <20lb, walk, stand, ascend/descend stairs, drive, twist, and reach above and below shoulders.

Work Environment:

Employee will consistently be required to work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with others. Office settings are mild to moderate temperatures.
