Job Description:

PROGRAM MANAGER – OPEN SOURCE PROGRAM OFFICE

The Role

Fidelity Investments is seeking a Program Manager to help scale and operationalize the activities of the Open Source Program Office - OSPO. Open source software is vital to our technology strategy, and the OSPO supports our ability to use and contribute to open source projects effectively and at scale.

  • Providing program management and consistent, efficient execution of Open Source Program Office and related activities.
  • Working with the OSPO Architect to identify operational improvements that enable Fidelity to scale up our open source governance processes.
  • Collaborating with legal, cyber security and other engineering teams to manage open source consumption process.
  • Collaborating with individual Fidelity contributors through the open source contribution process.
  • Scheduling and leading meetings to facilitate coordination of OSPO-managed standards and practices with various stakeholders across the enterprise.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Possess 5 or more years of experience with open source processes and communities.
  • Strong understanding of open-source software culture and governance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in educating and enabling newcomers to OSPO processes.
  • Ability to think creatively and troubleshoot open-source processes.
  • Experience working in a collaborative Agile environment and delivering value incrementally.
  • Experience and passion for working across other teams to solve problems, provide feedback, and gather information.
  • Ability to manage tasks to completion when they have dependencies on multiple teams within the enterprise.

Optional but preferred skills:

  • Strong understanding of source code management tooling (particularly git).
  • Understanding of Software Composition Analysis (SCA) tooling, open source licenses, and open source compliance.

The Team

The Open Source Program Office (OSPO) is a team within Fidelity Application Architecture responsible for reviewing and ensuring the use of open source software (OSS) is compliant with policy, builds communities of interest, and reflects Fidelity positively as a firm moving toward transparency and collaboration.
