The Behavioral Supervisor is responsible for the administrative support and guidance of the staff in all aspects of the Behavioral Management Program. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below:

  • Provides direct supervision of Behavior Specialists to assure consistent utilization of Behavior Management techniques that promote a smooth functioning environment and MSDE compliance.
    • Conducts guidance, performance evaluations, orientation and training
    • Resolves issues and serves as resource
  • Serves as a liaison to other departments within the agency and participates as a member of the administrative management team on behalf of the school.
    • Participates in school meetings including IEP team meetings
    • Supports and supervises one-to-one advocates from outside agencies
    • Adheres to The Mentor Network and school policies
  • Acts as a behavioral consultant to school, treatment team and/or agency staff regarding any facet of a student’s educational and behavioral development
    • Instructs and supports staff in the use of the Behavior Management System
    • Provides in-service training and professional development to facilitate the growth of staff and the school program
    • Participates as part of the admissions team for intake and orientation of new students
    • Conducts evaluations of the Behavior Management Specialists.
  • Prepares behavioral progress reports and summaries on a student’s functioning for the educational and clinical departments including documentation for annual reviews and IEP
  • Provides “On-Call” coverage when the agency and school are closed within the program on a rotating basis
  • Offers educational and behavioral classroom direction as needed
  • Performs other related duties and activities as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs and supervises assigned staff including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training.Makes recommendations for decisions on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves employee problems within position responsibilities.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Three years’ of experience in behavioral management role preferred
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have valid AZ driver's license
  • Must be able to obtain a level one fingerprint card

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Certified Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Trainer
  • Or MSDE trainer certified by an accredited college/university

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in supervision of Behavioral Management Programming;
  • Conflict Resolution;
  • Excellent judgment;
  • Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in emergency situations and withstand the work and pressures of day to day crisis interventions;

Other Requirements:

  • Travel as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Light work.Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
