Mental Health Counseling Manager

In the Mental Health Counseling Manager role, bring your commitment and clinical skills to a team-based workplace that puts people first. The Mental Health Counseling Manager position is a role that allows you to carry a 50% clinical caseload of pediatric patients while also dedicating 50% of your time to managing a growing and thriving team of mental health practitioners. The job duties of each part of this role are indicated below:

Clinician Duties:

  • Provide mental health counseling to children and adolescents using multiple forms of therapeutic approaches, including psycho-education, assessment and diagnosis.
  • Work with individuals and/or families to address issues such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, family stressors, and problems with other life transitions or adjustments.
  • Be able to provide parent training, coaching, and education as needed.
  • Provide assessments in the areas of mental status, behavioral patterns, relationships, and family interactions.
  • Provide individual counseling and family therapy as appropriate to participant needs.
  • Facilitate/co-facilitate pediatric and adolescent counseling groups as needed.
  • Participate in treatment planning with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with other service providers and family, etc. about treatment recommendations and progress.
  • Complete clinical assessments and documentation for each individual served, indicating objectives, strategies, and outcomes obtained; bill appropriate insurance codes in alignment with services provided.
  • Attend regular mental health discipline meetings as well as meetings with clinical supervisor(s) as necessary.
  • Ensure evaluation, progress, and discharge reports on each program participant are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation standards and ethics of confidentiality.
  • Provide appropriate supervision and in-house activities for program participants as needed.
  • Actively participate in Crisis Prevention Institute training (on-call team).

Management Duties:

  • Responsible for growing and leading the mental health team in an outpatient, multidisciplinary practice.
  • Be available to the mental health team on a daily basis for patient staffing, care coordination, and clinic operations.
  • Provide onboarding and training to all new mental health staff in your clinic location.
  • Responsible for payroll and time off requests for the mental health team.
  • Track mental health team productivity and ensure that providers meet monthly goals.
  • Ensure end-of-month documentation and billing deadlines are met for your team.
  • Responsible for leading bi-monthly mental health team meetings and creating a monthly agenda of items that includes administrative updates as well as case staffing.
  • Perform clinical supervision for a team of LMSW mental health practitioners and interns.
  • Oversee caseload management of the mental health team, including managing the scheduling of incoming referrals and monitoring discharges.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the clinic leadership team.
  • Coordinate care with multiple other agencies and collateral workers in the community and school system to facilitate opportunities for outreach services.
  • Collaborate with management staff of a multidisciplinary clinic: OT managers, SLP managers, etc.
  • Serve as a representative of the clinic and company while also representing the mental health team.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a Human Services field.
  • Two years of relevant experience in pediatrics.
  • Experience in program management or administration preferred.
  • LCSW or LPCC licensure required.
