Job Title: Cytotechnologist

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cytotechnologist to join our team in Binghamton, NY. The successful candidate will be responsible for examining and evaluating cell samples under a microscope to detect signs of cancer or other diseases. This is a full-time position with a schedule of five 8-hour shifts per week during daytime hours.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and examine microscopic slides of cells to detect abnormal conditions and signs of disease.
• Use various techniques such as cell block preparation, slide staining, and special techniques to enhance cellular features for diagnosis.
• Analyze and interpret cellular samples, documenting and communicating findings to pathologists and other medical professionals.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all findings and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety protocols and quality control standards.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in cytotechnology and laboratory techniques.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Cytotechnology or a related field.
• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Cytotechnologist (CT) or eligibility to obtain certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, with specific experience in cytology preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
• Proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment and software.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and standards.
