Settlers Hospitality is Hiring a Baker Near Hawley, PA

Description

The Baker is responsible for reproducing the baker's recipes for breads and pastries to exact specifications for our retail and wholesale customers. We have built a reputation for impeccable bread and pastries and the successful candidate will be able to maintain that reputation. The ideal candidate is also able to start work in the early morning hours as is typical for a bakery operation.

The Baker works closely with our Executive Pastry Chef and has the opportunity to learn from one of the best bakers in our area. The bakery is located in the historic Hawley Silk Mill Building.

The ideal candidate for this position has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma, at least one year prior relevant experience, and knowledge of food safety and handling requirements. Formal culinary training is highly desired. In addition, the Baker/Finisher must have excellent customer service skills, effective oral and written skills, good time management skills, and professional dress, speech, and behavior.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares baked goods following established recipes and procedures and maintains a high quality and consistent product
  • Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices
  • Cleans work areas and all equipment used in food preparation
  • Understands and communicates all store promotions to customers
  • Monitors product levels and re-stocks as required, rotating goods to reduce shrinkage
  • Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma preferred
  • One year of relevant experience
  • Formal culinary training a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Excellent customer service focus
  • Knowledge of general sanitary and safety practices
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
  • Able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
