Servomex is Hiring a Systems Engineering Project Manager - Gas Analysis Near Sugar Land, TX

A rare and exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineering Project Manager to join Servomex, the world leader in gas analysis and part of the FTSE 250 Spectris Group on the London Stock Exchange. As a key member of the Systems Engineering Team, the successful candidate will provide high quality analytical systems solutions, including analyzer sample systems, enclosures, shelters, networking and communications for customer applications requiring Servomex products.

This unique role will suit an individual who will relish the opportunity to act as Project Manager, Engineer and Designer (AutoCAD) of projects from customer concept to commissioning. They will ensure correct designs and bills of material based on customer application and analyzer requirements, along with all relevant electrical and mechanical engineering codes and standards applying to hydrocarbon processing and industrial gas markets.

About the Opportunity:

  • Manage the Systems Project from Order to Cash.
  • Collaboration with customers and sales to determine best solution strategy based on customer applications, specification, safety and plant needs during quotation process.
  • Provide detailed design packages of electrical, mechanical, physical layout, and analyzer sample systems and associated material lists based on customer requirements.
  • Track project schedules, milestones, and budgets to meet Customer and Company goals.
  • Follow Company and industry-established practices, standards, guidelines and procedures for preparation of estimates, scopes, specifications, design, and other deliverables.
  • Modify existing and/or create new Company engineering procedures, standard templates and practices to stay current with technology, improved methodologies, and project lessons learned.
  • Attend customer FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing).
  • Interface with other internal and external engineering disciplines/departments, shop personnel, plant operations, maintenance and reliability personnel and vendors/suppliers regarding technical issues.
  • Work with Manufacturing to ensure proper build to design.
  • Collaborate with Applications Engineering to ensure proper analyzer configuration for the system.
  • Interface with customers, representative companies and Regional Sales Managers to provide updates on product/systems progress, FATs, shipment/delivery dates and general on-going sales support.
  • Assist service staff in diagnosing system problems and making repairs.
  • Work together with customer service to develop change orders if necessary and establishing costs for quoting.
  • Participate in customer service and engineering improvement initiatives as required.

About Your Talent:

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Substantive, progressive track record in analytical systems design, IE&A systems and/or project management.
  • Sample Systems Design and Integration hydrocarbon processing applications - confident with Autocad designing.
  • Possess a wealth of knowledge of industry standards and how to apply our gas analyzer technologies to meet customers’ specifications: paramagnetic, zirconia, infrared/photometric, coulometric and gas chromatography.
  • Extensive knowledge in chemical, mechanical and electrical engineering principles related to Systems Integration.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for assigned work.
  • Strong verbal and written skills to communicate and obtain cooperation from team members involved in the project execution process, i.e. customer scope definition, engineering and design, FAT, commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Strong willingness to learn from team interactions.
  • Systematic approach to problem definition and solution development.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Good verbal and written skills to communicate with and obtain cooperation from team members involved with design and engineering, shop fabrication and integration, FATs, commissioning and start-up.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in Semiconductor and Air Separation applications and market.
  • Exposure of working with Field Service and Sales.
  • Expertise and knowledge of Quality systems.
  • Project management experience for small (less than $100K) and large (greater than $MM) projects.
  • Ability to work effectively within team environment to include working as coach and mentor to junior team members to support ongoing development/improvements related to workflow processes of the Systems Engineering and extended teams.

Essential Qualifications / Education:

  • Technology Certification (2-4 years program) and progressive, substantial, and proven experience in analytical systems design, IE&A systems and/or project management; and/or
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a particular Engineering or Science discipline and proven experience in analytical systems design, IE&A systems and/or project management.

Desirable Qualifications / Education:

  • Professional Engineer Certification
