Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Director of Operations and Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor and works as part of a team to ensure that all food manufacturing equipment is maintained in the best physical condition possible and that all service requests are completed in a timely manner.

Maintenance

Perform maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs to all production line equipment before and during operations, and on selected days dedicated to maintenance.

• Observe and practice safety procedures when conducting maintenance work.
• Inspect equipment weekly and report any needed repairs to your direct supervisor.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions. Repair equipment or cause of the equipment to be repaired by a vendor or outside contractor, in accordance with Serv-Rite Meat Company Inc. policies and procedures.
• Inspect processing equipment and provide preventative maintenance services in accordance with appropriate preventative maintenance guidelines. Prepare and maintain all appropriate equipment inspection and preventative maintenance logs as required.
• Maintain the maintenance equipment supplies (spare parts) inventory and order as needed.
• Assist in the preparation of supply orders.
• Contribute to the development of the maintenance budget and ensure compliance.
• Monitor inventory of materials and equipment.
• Respond to after-hours and weekend maintenance emergencies.

Special projects as designated by the Director of Operations or designee.

Equivalent Education, Experiences, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

• Minimum of three (3) years fixing food manufacturing equipment. (ex. Injectors, Massagers, Tumblers, Mixers, Grinders, Dumpers, Packaging, Ovens)
• Knowledgeable with the chemicals used (grease, acids, bases, oils, etc.) in the servicing of food manufacturing equipment.
• Must be able to read electrical and mechanical schematics and troubleshoot and/or diagnose plant equipment issues.
• Skilled in welding, metalwork, electrical, plumbing, basic construction, and lighting.
• Effectively manage and solve practical problems and effectively handle situations with limited instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Valid California driver’s license and availability of an insured vehicle to travel with Serv-Rite Meat Company plants.
• Bilingual- English & Spanish (preferred)
• Basic computer skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
