Serco’s Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) business unit employs a team of U.S. Navy Combat System experts based out of our Port Hueneme, CA location. Our goal is to provide our sailors with access to cutting edge technology and support shipboard design, equipment design and CAD support for our nation’s most advanced combat systems.

In this role you will:

• Maintains plans, designs, drawings and schematics for components and systems.
• Under general supervision, prepares moderately complex sketches, drawings, and models on design projects.
• Uses computer-aided design (CAD) to prepare layouts and drawings.
• Works independently on the development of original designs or adaptations requiring specialized experience.
• Creates and maintains 3D modeled parts, assemblies and drawings for developmental Navy shipboard combat system equipment and components.
• Develops drawings for installation of Navy Shipboard combat systems.
• Draws structural, mechanical, or electrical features of related structures and equipment.
• Reviews literature, standards, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
• Prepares working plans and detailed drawings from sketches and notes received from Engineers or Senior Designers.
• May perform site surveys and incorporate them into CAD files.
• Calculate and lays out dimensions, angles, curvature of parts, materials to be used, and relationship of various parts to the entire structure.
• Create preliminary and/or final drawings and models using standard drafting techniques using computer assisted design.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Bachelor's degree with 0 - 2 years of related experience.
  • Education and work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
• Aility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (post employment)
• Strong Experience/training in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) with specific experience using AutoCAD.
• Related experience interpreting design requirements and preparing design alternatives 
• AutoCAD, Manual Drafting, 3D Prototyping, and SolidWorks and/or Inventor
• Ability to travel 10%
• Shipboard operations/shipboard design/Navy experience is a plus.

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $54,460.22- $90,767.72 ; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
