Position Description

Serco is proud to work with the Jackson County Career Academy and Pascagoula High School to offer a position as a Career Academy Associate. This program is designed to provide high school students with paid internship opportunities to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional ship building environment with a focus on the engineering and technical communities.

The Career Academy Associate will be available throughout the school year from September through May each year. You will work with an Engineering Manager on the best schedule for you working no more than an average of 20 hours per week.

In addition to gaining hand-on experience using engineering tools and shipboard inspections, you will attend training with senior engineers and technicians from across the team to help prepare you for college and your career.

Specific duties include:

• Review and update sketches in AutoCAD.
• Assist with review shipboard engineering changes.
• Assist with tracking discrepancies and prepare packages for system and compartment inspections.

Qualifications

To be qualified for this position you must meet the following guidelines:

• Be a student in good standing with the Pascagoula Career Academy program entering your senior year.
• Receive teacher recommendation to be a participant.
• Be interested in pursuing engineering or other technical degree at the college level.
• Have knowledge of AutoCAD program.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
