This position is mainly responsible for the electrical and mechanical assembly of electrical control panels and cabinets. The electro-mechanical assembler will also perform machine wiring and assist in machine troubleshooting and start-up as specified per electrical schematics, machine drawings and engineering.

  • Build and wire electrical control panels using point to point wiring.
  • Perform machine wiring per machine drawings and/or electrical schematics.
  • Perform mechanical work such as attaching enclosures to a machine, punching hole to cabinets, drilling and tapping holes in machine conveyors, and bending conduit piping, etc.
  • Assist electrical engineers with machine electrical systems pre-functional testing and start-ups.
  • Maintain housekeeping and organization of workplace by performing 5S.
  • Follow all workplace safety standards.
  • Follow assembly work instruction and maintain machine quality control forms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics and Bills of Materials.
  • Must be familiar with electrical control system components (e.g. breakers, disconnect, switches, relays, timers, etc.).
  • Excellent understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • General math skills.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written work instructions and blueprints.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects with flexibility of adapting to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology is a plus.
  • 10 years of experience in a manufacturing or general labor industry.
  • 6 years of hands-on experience in electrical control panel building.
  • 6 years of experience with power and hand tools (e.g. wire cutters, crimpers, soldering irons, etc.), fabrication machinery (e.g. drill press, lathe, grinder, etc.), and pneumatic tools.
  • Previous experience operating material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, gantry cranes, etc.
  • Electrical licensing is a plus.
  • Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license.
  • Fluency with Windows Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

Work is performed largely in an office or climate-controlled warehouse environment. Some hours will be spent at various remote locations. Hours of work are generally during regular business. There will be some variation in work hours due to employee shift schedules, special projects, deadlines, customer needs and various other business concerns. Out of town and overnight travel, both local and international, may be required for business and education, by air and/or auto. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, as well as the ability to bend, kneel, walk or sit for extended periods of time. The ability to reach above head, reach below knees, climb, and work at elevation is also required. Depending on scope of work, the exposure to material handling equipment, dust, moderate noise, and the use of personal protective equipment will occur.
