Sentinel Offender Services, LLC is Hiring a Part Time Case Manager (Criminal Justice) - Wheaton, IL Near Wheaton, IL

For almost 30 years, Sentinel Offender Services has provided community based, offender-funded monitoring services across North America. Working with law enforcement, community corrections agencies and the court system, we provide customized offender management solutions that help to reduce recidivism and improve reentry success. These solutions combine electronic monitoring technology, alcohol and substance abuse testing and community-based offender management programs.

The Case Manager provides a service to the contracted Department by handling an assigned caseload of defendants serving an alternative sentence of electronic monitoring.

Job Expectations Essential Functions

· Ensure program fees are correctly entered into the Sentinel software platform.

· Maintain records of account balances and review those balances daily to ensure defendant compliance.

· Provide regular updates to the Customer regarding outstanding accounts and potential issues via narrative reports.

· Conduct proactive fee collections through effective communication channels, including making phone calls and sending text messages, to ensure timely payments from clients.
· Make recommendations to the Department that a non-compliant participant be removed from the program.

· Provide clear and concise explanations of fees, terms, and payment options to the defendants.

· Install, remove, and service various electronic monitoring equipment as requested using directed safety measures.

· Inspect and maintain all monitoring and testing equipment, this includes cleaning equipment.

· Maintain calibration and repair records for all equipment serviced.

· Diagnose issues with electronic monitoring equipment when warranted as outlined in company procedures.

· Shipping and receiving functions for equipment and supplies per established procedures.

· Serve as a liaison between Sentinel and/or other contracted agencies, as needed based on duty shifts.

· Perform other job-related duties as required.

Requirements

· Proven experience as a Collection Specialist or similar role

· Knowledge of billing procedures and collection techniques (e.g. skip tracing)

· Familiarity with laws related to debt collection (e.g. FDCPA)

· Comfortable working with targets

Education

Bachelor’s degree preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Other Requirements:
· Two years experience in criminal justice or related field; education accepted in place of experience
· Must successfully pass a criminal background investigation and drug screening

· Professional communication skills to communicate with members of the Department, Judges, employees, and program participants.
· Ability to work in Microsoft Office applications and other Windows-based programs.
· Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed information.
· Ability to prepare written reports and maintain accurate records.
· Strong presentation and persuasive skills.
