Sentara Independence is hiring a Full-time, Rotating Shift, Security Team Lead.

Requirements:

• Driver’s License – Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (VDMV) Required
• High School Grad or Equivalent Required, Associate Degree Preferred
• Certified Healthcare Security Officer, Handle with Care Certification Required
• Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer (CAHSO) Certification Required
• 3 years of Security Experience Required
• Required: Active Listening, Communication, Critical Thinking, Judgment and Decision Making, Microsoft Office, Service Orientation, Speaking, Writing 

To bolster safety and security for our patients and team members, Sentara has implemented a Fit for Duty assessment to ensure that our officers meet a minimum standard of fitness. 

• The four-part assessment includes a response walk, a stair climb, a drag to safety and a lift. 
• All prospective security officer candidates must pass the FFD assessment, which will be administered by the respective hiring/security leader & Employee Health prior to being offered a position.

Position Overview

This position serves as the primary trainer within the division security department. 

The Team Leader in Security serves as a resource for team members; performs departmental work assignments, acts as process-owner/technical expert for Security; provides orientation and training to new and incumbent staff, and provides the leadership team (Team Coordinator, Manager, Director) with input on various operating issues to include assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement and customer service activities.

De-Escalation training and physical intervention training must be successfully completed within 180 days of hire. Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification by International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) must be successfully obtained within 90 days of hire. Former military, law enforcement or security officer experience preferred
