Sentara Healthcare is hiring a Security Officer at Sentara Careplex in Hampton, VA. This is a Flexi role with flexible scheduling and a minimum of a 4 hour shift.

As a Security Officer with Sentara, you will ensure a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees. This position's primary duties include actively patrolling campuses and monitoring activity in and around buildings and responding appropriately to both routine and emergent situations. You will also document daily activities via computer, conduct investigations, evaluate situations, and take appropriate steps for resolution. Hours:

Monday through Friday, the Security staff works three shifts, 0600-1430, 1400-2230, and 2200-0630.

Over the weekends, there is some part-time staff who are available only for certain times, so there may be a 12-hour and a 4-hour shift.

New hires are asked to be flexible to start and to move to a regular schedule.

Schedules are set to match the two-week pay period, with most Officers working part of their 40 hours on alternate weekends.

Sentara CarePlex Hospital is a 224-bed, acute care hospital, and Certified Primary Stroke Center located in Hampton, Va. Sentara CarePlex Hospital provides care through advanced surgical programs, emergency cardiac intervention, fellowship-trained physicians, and the newly-opened Family Maternity Center. It is also home to the Orthopaedic Hospital at Sentara CarePlex Hospital, the area's first dedicated orthopedic hospital, taking specialized orthopedic care to the next level.

Job Requirements:

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
One year of security experience
Valid Drivers License
De-escalation and Physical Intervention training completed within 180 days of hire. Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification by International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) must be successfully obtained within 90 days of hire. Former military, law enforcement, or security officer experience preferred.

The Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees at Sentara Hospitals and Free-standing Emergency Departments.
