Senior Center Coordinator

People Helping People has been the foundation of Senior Friendship Centers for over 50 years, and we are looking for a dynamic Senior Center Coordinator! The Senior Center Coordinator will be responsible for the daily operation of the senior center activities.

We are seeking a positive and compassionate individual who thrives on living out our values of helping others. The Senior Center Coordinator will operate the daily senior center activities with integrity and respect. Strong computer, technology, and communication skills are a must.

The Activity Centers at Senior Friendship Centers create community in every sense of the word. They offer seniors a space to take classes, exercise, play cards, socialize, create art, listen to live music, learn a new language, learn about healthy aging, or sit down with friends over coffee. Senior Friendship Centers is the safety net for seniors in four counties along Southwest Florida, providing a wide variety of programs.

This is a full-time, Monday - Friday position with benefits including, health, dental, vision, life insurance, 403b with employer match, generous PTO, paid holidays, and more! Essential Functions:

Operational:

  • Provide back up in the daily oversight of the Senior Center when the Manager and/or Assistant Manager is out of the office, including opening and closing routine.
  • Assist and Coordinate with corporate partners and other referral sources.
  • Conducts tours of the activity center to visitors when needed.
  • Responsible for set up and tear down of activities/programming.
  • Provides resources of the Senior Friendship Centers when inquired.
  • Enter 5-Day Passes into MySeniorCenter. Follow-up to convert 5-Day Passes into memberships.
  • Accepts new members and renewal applications and processes payment into MySeniorCenter.
  • Schedules community appointments within the senior centers when needed.
  • Basic cash handling skills.
  • Assist with timely and accurate record-keeping and documentation, including data entry into MySeniorCenter.
  • Assist with implementation of LifeLong Learning programs.
  • Assists with center rentals. Available to work nights and weekends for special events and rentals.

Organizational:

  • Attend staff meetings, training, and seminars as required.
  • Must comply with all Senior Friendship Centers personnel policies.
  • Must protect the safety and health of staff, volunteers, participants, and others by observing and following the organization’s safety and incident policies.
  • Report any incident of abuse or neglect as mandated by the state guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)

Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, ability, and skills to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Basic computer skills are required, including experience with Microsoft Office suite. Must have experience with Outlook calendars, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to quickly learn the applications, technology, and equipment used in the center; including but not limited to digital music, tablets, and smart devices.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods sitting and standing.
  • Lifting and moving chairs and tables regularly.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to independently access various departments of a given location.

Travel:

  • Some travel may be required to complete administrative tasks.
  • Occasional travel to assist other program sites may occur.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are required for all work-related travel.

Additional eligibility requirements:

  • Satisfactory clearance of a fingerprint-based, level II background screening and pre-employment substance abuse testing is required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
