Aquatics Director, Cub Scout Adventure Camp @ Cutler, Naples NY
Position Requirements:
● Minimum age: must be 21 years old
● Registered, or willing to register with the BSA.
● Proficient Swimmer and Boater (Kayaking, Rowing, Canoeing), with Lifeguarding experience
● Able to provide focused and attentive supervision to a swimming area for periods of up to 90 uninterrupted minutes while standing.
● Physically able to conduct rescues with swimmers your size or larger in compliance with BSA lifeguard curriculum.
● Has, or is able to complete training for; BSA Lifeguard, BSA Aquatics Instructor; Standard CPR and First Aid.
● Camp Admin can provide or facilitate an opportunity for you to take almost all required camp training, including position-specific training.
● Requires on-site residency at summer camp. Room and board are provided as part of the compensation.
● Salary is dependent on work experience.
● Contract periods range from 4-8 weeks, May through August.
● Workdays are the length of camp sessions, Sunday through Saturday mornings with 24 hours off before next camp session.
● Hours per day will vary based on camp needs.
Duties:
● Oversees all aquatics programs at Camp Cutler, in compliance with all applicable policies and standards set by the BSA, New York State, the United States, and Ontario County.
● Responsible for training, supervising, and evaluating all Aquatics and Lifeguard Staff.
● Work with the Program and Camp Director to develop and implement a quality, age-appropriate Aquatics program that meets advancement, and recreational priorities of the camp.
● Communicate aquatics policies and program information effectively to campers and parents.
● Observe staff and camper behavior, assess it for appropriateness, enforce safety regulations, carry out emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
● Lead aquatic rescue operations; provide training to staff on aquatic rescue and emergency procedures.
● Prepares reports as required; including a final closing report to the Program Director which includes Closing Inventory, an evaluation of each aquatics staff member, a list of problems encountered, a list of recommendations for the next year, including supply purchases.
● Support camp wide program and operations per the direction of the Camp Director and Program Director.
