RN Supervisor

STARTING RATE: $36.00

SIGN-ON BONUS: up to $10,000

SHIFT: FullTime, 3-11pm Monday through Friday

JOB DESCRIPTION:

An RN Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day clinical activities of health care personnel, such as LPNs and CNAs, while maintaining a safe environment for residents and striving to meet maximum security and comfort needs. Additionally, the RN Supervisor must be able to interpret patient information and make critical decisions about necessary actions, as well as administer medication, wound care and other personalized interventions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of age specific developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents (i.e. physical, cognitive, and socialization factors) in planning delivery of care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to care for residents with the following needs: therapeutic, nuero & dementia, dialysis, IV therapy, infectious disease, and wound care if applicable.
  • Provides nursing care in accordance with Resident Care Policies and Procedures and ensures the safety and well-being of the residents is maintained.
  • Attends all mandatory inservices by the employee’s anniversary date.
  • Maintains and updates New York State license in compliance with New York Stateregulations.
  • Acts appropriately under the direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing and acts as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Responds appropriately to behavioral, medical and fire safety situations.
  • Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in patient/resident, or unit/shift assignment, to meet resident and facility needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to manage specialized dementia unit, as appropriate.
  • Supervises assigned nursing personnel including responsibility for instructions, assignment, direction, performance assessment, discipline and dismissal of the these assigned employees. works cooperatively with other assigned RN Shift Supervisors to ensure satisfactory work performance of all unit employees on all shifts.
  • Assesses level and numbers of personnel assigned to each unit on day shift. Reassigns such personnel for better resident care and utilization of such personnel.
  • Completes monthly staffing schedules for day shift.
  • Communicates and observes the Corporate Compliance Program effectively and complies with Code of Conduct when performing work functions.
  • Maintains open line of communication with attending physicians regarding patient care and/or treatment issues.
  • Demonstrates ability to act as the Assistant Director and/or Director of Nursing in their absence.
  • Ensures the coordination of nursing care with other departments and disciplines within the facility to best meet resident care objectives.
  • Conducts periodic rounds to observe facility appearance and safety, and makes recommendations or assignments for nursing personnel in regard to these concerns and/or report these concerns the appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinates the resolution of resident activity, social service and nutritional problems observed by nursing personnel.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • New York State Registered Professional Nurse licensure (RN)
  • Experience in long-term care facility preferred
  • Able to interpret patient information and make critical decisions about necessary actions
  • Ability to supervise and work well with and show respect toward other health care personnel (i.e., CNAs, LPNs, physicians, etc.), residents and their family members
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness and kindness
  • Physical endurance for frequent activity; ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
