Seminole County Board of County Commissioners is Hiring a Recreation Facility Manager Near Altamonte Springs, FL

Supervisory work in leading a team of professional recreation and operational staff in planning, scheduling, promoting, implementing and evaluating a variety of park and recreational activities and events to include but not limited to: health and wellness, sports, cultural arts, environmental, history and heritage. Programs may be provided within a variety of delivery systems such as leagues, clinics, special events, special programs, tournaments, workshops and the like.

Ability to plan, organize, effectively communicate and provide leadership, management, supervision and administration of a CAPRA Accredited public park program at county facilities or as assigned (school or partnership). This includes but is not limited to developing and implementing marketing plans, public speaking, sponsorship, effective citizen engagement and partnership development.

The position is responsible for ensuring public safety in all aspects of park operations through effective oversight and maintenance of park facilities, implementation of best practices, capital and operational budgeting and regular inspection of park and amenities.

Effectively hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates employees assigned to County parks to execute day-to-day operational programming and maintenance, including County policies and procedures, training on safety, equipment usage, customer service, public relations, risk management, use of technology systems and other duties as assigned. This includes providing responsible coaching, mentoring and disciplinary action with staff as needed.

Develops and oversees annual budget and procurement process to include efficient and timely planning for annual operations, capital program, expenditure oversight, purchasing, contracts, revenue generation, pro-active analysis and reporting of trends within assigned areas.

Responsible for maintaining complete and accurate records of all park operations, including evaluations, program delivery models, marketing plans, program statistics, attendance records, revenue records, and other reports as necessary or assigned.

Maintains effective working relationships with department management team, citizens, other county departments and affiliated agencies.

Additional Duties:

Performs other related work as required.
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.

Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education, or a closely related field and three to five years management and supervisory experience in a public park setting; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. NRPA Parks and Recreation Professional certification desired.

A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
 

Demonstrates considerable knowledge of public service recreation and park philosophy, techniques, methodology and best practice standards.

Displays outstanding customer service philosophy, creativity, initiative to excel and dedication to public service.

Ability to supervise and train member staff in the Divisional, Departmental and County policy and procedures to effectively reach established goals.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with the public, member staff and management.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

Familiar with government purchasing procedures. Use of computer with Microsoft office products. Familiar with park and recreation specialty software is desired.
