Performs the general and routine daily direction to employees within assigned span of control to assure the safe, efficient, timely and quality operations of equipment and product being produced. Serves as a role model and provides encouragement to members of the work group and others, while also providing timely feedback and assistance to the department supervisor to help the department achieve their goals.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); twelve months or greater related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; ability to perform simple to complex measurements and quality checks relevant to the position; ability to perform minor PM's required in the position; various experience with the equipment and processes within area to be assigned is required to provide relief and training; demonstrated leadership; must be able to input information into Production Control System via key board; basic computer skills required.

The key demands of this position are to provide the minute-by-minute direction of other employees assigned in the work area combined with the need to more fully comprehend the equipment, process and actual workflow in order to provide relief and train others. This position has a level of associated day to day stress due to the nature of the leadership required while carrying out direction of employees assigned in the work area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. Operation of various presses and/or operational machines may allow for occasional sitting or position variation. The employee is frequently required to walk and use hands to feel and manipulate operation buttons, operate computer keyboard, hand tools and/or the product itself. The employee is occasionally required to sit or stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items in the area of 10 pounds up to a maximum of 25 pounds at the end of an operational process. Boxing/bundling operations require maintaining time with the operating machine so as to box/bundle the material as produced without machine downtime. This will routinely require lifting in the 25-pound range up to about 100 pounds although lifting at the heavier weights or size is with assistance (two people); must be able to drive a forklift.

The noise level in the work environment depending on assignment is usually loud requiring mandatory wearing of hearing protection. Safety glasses, steal toes shoes, gloves and usually arm guards/sleeves are required to be worn. There is minimal to no heating and no air conditioning in the facility.
