Select Physical Therapy is Hiring a Personal Trainer Near Arlington, VA

Overview

Job Summary:

A personal trainer is responsible for designing and implementing exercise programs for clients and patients and providing instruction on specific exercise techniques, methods and training curriculum. This position consults with therapists and physicians in assisting with the full recovery of participants who need rehabilitative therapy. Market and network within the assigned territory to facilitate the growth and development of wellness and sports medicine program services.

 Schedule:

  • Clinic Location: Arlington, VA 
  • Type of Employment: Full Time
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 3:30pm (negotiable)
  • Salary: Starting at $16/hour (Pending Experience)

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts wellness and fitness consultations, assessments, and screening.
  • Develops individualized programs that ensure client satisfaction, safety, and enhancement of rehabilitative goals, and overall health and fitness goals.
  • Provides leadership and support for clientele; helps motivate clients/patients to achieve their health goals.
  • Instructs clients/patients one-on-one through individualized fitness programs.
  • Instructs clients/patients/teams in group settings (on and off-site).
  • Tailors programs based on the results that the clients/patients wish to achieve as well as based on their physical capabilities or restrictions.
  • Conducts sports medicine assessments with corrective exercise programs (Dorsi-Vi, Fusionetics).
  • Work closely with our sports medicine groups within their assigned region to provide a variety of different wellness-based services, and develop suitable program content to boost injury prevention awareness, and peak athletic performance (wellness seminars, sports events/tournament coverage, team events, marketing events and demonstrations of sports medicine assessments, etc.).
  • Participates in the marketing and exposure of the Wellness Program services.
  • Provides information about programs and events for community outreach of health, fitness, and wellness (as requested).
  • Assists in the cardiac rehab program, as applicable. Monitoring vitals such as blood pressure, oxygen levels, and pulse rates.
  • Plays an integral role in active care retail sales (equipment for clinic and home use).
  • Monitors and tracks inventory of retail sales items and communicates needs to the center manager.
  • Assists, monitors and instructs clients/patients by ensuring safe and effective use of gym equipment and weight machines.\
  • Ensures the facility and equipment are maintained in safe and excellent conditions at all times and the aesthetics of the facility meet the highest standards.
  • Participates in and completes all quality assurance and outcome documentation, as requested.
  • Maintains accurate paperwork for clients and sessions.
  • Maintains and enhances personal knowledge by keeping all training certifications up to date and providing corresponding documentation for personnel files.
  • Communicates any equipment problems or client concerns to the center manager.
  • Provides services within budgetary constraints, as directed.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.** Subject to limitations imposed by state/local/federal law.

  • Promotes patient and employee safety through safe behaviors and by identifying potential risks, addressing them whenever possible, and communicating those risks to appropriate individuals and/or supervisors. Focused on 10 Foot Circle of Safety and displays safety awareness in all of the following key areas: Safe Patient Handling, Materials Handling, Infectious Diseases, Slips/Trips & Falls, and Work Environment.

Qualifications

Required Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, or human health and services.
  • Certified personal trainer from America College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), or American Council on Exercise (ACE), or equivalent.
  • Certified strength and conditioning specialist preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous personal training, strength and conditioning, or fitness experience preferred
  • Clinical experience (from prior employment or via observation hours).
  • CPR and AED certification.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Educated and well-versed in clinically-based exercise modalities and methods.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Sales skills to grow the program.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and understanding of all necessary facility equipment including computer and billing systems.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Word and Excel office technologies.
