SEKON is Hiring a Remote CDC Application Programmer - REMOTE

SeKON is seeking an Application Programmer to support the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) & Prevention specifically eHARS in Atlanta, GA. The Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP) within the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides funds to state, territorial and local health departments (HDs) to conduct surveillance of HIV infection under cooperative agreements.

This position is based in Atlanta, GA, but will be remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gather detailed requirements for approximately 30 HIV Public Health APIs prioritized by HSB for development and deployment, ensuring compatibility with HD's data systems for HIV surveillance.
  • Develop documented "to-be" solutions and/or architectures for the APIs, detailing the design and implementation approach.
  • Propose a technology stack for the APIs, subject to review and approval by the CDC.
  • Deploy and maintain APIs on the CDC/NCHHSTP Azure subscription, ensuring integration with SAMS authentication.
  • Manage and support the API code based on the CDC GitHub Enterprise platform, ensuring its stability and scalability.
  • Conduct necessary training sessions and create associated materials tailored for end users (HD HIV surveillance programs) and CDC staff.
  • Establish release management procedures to ensure smooth deployment and updates of the APIs.
  • Update the eHARS application to utilize the newly developed APIs, removing eHARS-specific business logic and integrating with the updated system architecture.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of IT experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Ability to work with development and security issues/resolutions.
  • Skills: Ability to work with Spring Framework (JAVA class management and REST API implementation).
  • Currently have experience using the following tools: Java, Drools Rules Engine, JSON, JavaScript, SQL Server, Azure Services.
