Responsibilities include:

  • Assembling, adjusting/calibrating, cleaning, and repair microscope products and parts with attention to quality control. Includes both optical components and electronic components.
  • Help monitor and maintain inventory levels to support delivery requirements.
  • Inspect instruments for product quality issues
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and other specialized equipment used in assembly (e.g. drill press). They should also be knowledgeable about different types of materials and assembly techniques. Familiarity with microscope components and their functions would be beneficial.
  • Ensure shipping/receiving documents are prepared properly for processing. Box, label and ship microscope parts and product.
  • Follow procedures and work instructions per ISO standards and follow all applicable government regulations.
  • Responsible for all inventory transactions in absence of supervisor.
  • Travel occasionally for service and installations.
  • Able to identify, analyze, and solve problems that arise during the assembly process, from mechanical issues to efficiency concerns.
  • Complete tasks efficiently, meeting deadlines, and maintaining productivity.
  • Keep the work area tidy and maintaining an efficient system for managing parts and tools.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and keep up with advancements in technology and best practices.
  • Understand and adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Must be proficient in reading calipers, height gauges, collimators, VOMs and other measuring devices.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical school, or 3 years verifiable experience, in optical-mechanical assembly required
  • Soldering and electrical circuitry experience preferred
  • Fine motor skills/manual dexterity is required including: pinching, pressing, rotating, using tweezers, delicate tool work, etc.
  • Frequent sitting and standing are required
  • Good near vision is required
  • Must be able to lift and move 40 lbs, with or without assistance
  • Work instructions are provided in English
  • Must interpret mil-specifications and blueprints/drawings.
