TITLE: Wound Care Nurse

LOCATION: Radford Green

TYPE: FULL TIME

SUMMARY

The Wound Care Nurse is responsible for providing specialized wound care and management to patients within Radford Green. This position requires a highly skilled and compassionate individual with expertise in assessing, treating, and monitoring various types of wounds. The Wound Care Nurse plays a critical role in promoting wound healing, preventing infections, and improving patients' overall quality of life.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITITES

1. Wound Assessment and Documentation:

- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients' wounds, including wound size, depth, appearance, and surrounding tissue.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) documenting wound status, treatment plans, and progress.

2. Wound Treatment and Management:

- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans based on the type and stage of the wound, patient's medical history, and physician's recommendations.

- Administer appropriate wound care treatments, including wound dressings, debridement, and negative pressure wound therapy.

- Monitor and adjust treatment plans as needed to promote optimal wound healing.

3. Infection Control:

- Implement strict infection control practices to prevent wound infections and complications.

- Recognize early signs of wound-related infections and collaborate with the healthcare team to initiate timely interventions.

4. Patient Education:

- Educate patients and their families on wound care techniques, dressing changes, and the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy wound environment.

- Provide instructions on proper nutrition, hydration, and lifestyle modifications that support wound healing.

5. Collaboration and Communication:

- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate wound care plans and interventions.

- Maintain open and effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding the progress of wound healing and any necessary adjustments to the care plan.

6. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and protocols related to wound care.

- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of wound care services within the facility.

Qualifications:

- Valid nursing license in the state of IL.

- Certification in wound care (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification preferred).

- Minimum of 6 years of clinical nursing experience, with a focus on wound care.

- Strong knowledge of wound care best practices, current research, and evidence-based interventions.
