Join Sedaro as an early and critical team member as we develop the world’s first digital twin platform for space systems. Sedaro is hiring a Back-End Software Engineer to help achieve our mission of building infinitely scalable space system simulation software in the cloud.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience building and delivering web service applications and understand how to build scalable backend systems. The Back-End Software Engineer has a thoughtful approach to decision-making; knowing when to move fast and when to be thorough.

This position will celebrate autonomy, give and receive constructive feedback, and have a strong ability to meet tight deadlines. The Back-End Software Engineer is motivated to own a project from start to finish and is able to understand the big-picture and how it fits within all aspects of the business. This person is familiar with many industry tools and frameworks, including Python and Java, and is able to write clean and maintainable code.

What you'll do

• Own the architecture, design, implementation, testing, and deployment of a segment of the backend system and maintain a stable server environment
• Routinely inspect server code for speed optimization and conceptualize and implement solutions for efficient data storage, access, processing, and visualization
• Write unit, functional, and integration tests for the services and features you add, as well as find and adopt new ones to further increase maintainability and velocity
• Support bug fixes and feature development of existing backend components
• Participate in design iterations providing engineering feedback for product specs
• Keep up-to-date with industry and language best practices to suggest potential improvements to our existing code base
• Create and oversee testing schedules to optimize user interface and experience, ensuring optimal display on various browsers and devices

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, implement, test, and deploy the backend system
• Maintain a stable environment, while leveraging the development team to build a phenomenal product
• Own a specific segment of the code base and continuously improve upon it
• Routinely inspect code for speed optimization, bug fixes, and feature development
• Participate in design iterations providing engineering feedback for product specs
• Implement experimental productivity apps

Requirements

• 5 years of experience developing web service applications in Python
• Own the cloud-based application architecture that utilizes parallel distributed simulation
• Experience with analytics, testing, and crash reporting
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, gRPC, and REST APIs
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or similar

Preferred

• Master’s degree or higher in CS or similar
• Experience architecting and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with AI/ML and natural language processing
