Sedara is Hiring a Sr. Systems and Security Engineer Near Buffalo, NY

Sedara is seeking a Sr. Systems and Security Engineer to join our team! The qualified individual will become part of the Buffalo team, helping to support internal Sedara infrastructure as well as the delivery of cybersecurity services to customers worldwide. This individual will assume responsibility of all of Sedara’s infrastructure as well as assist in delivery of security engineering projects. The candidate will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network, storage and virtualization
  • Responsible for Ancible configuration management system
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes and primary and DR datacenters
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
  • Responsible for all SAN/Storage needs, including capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Researches and provides input to customer and internal security and network strategy
  • Takes initiative and drives assignments to completion. Monitors progress of self and others and redirects efforts or asks for help when goals are not being met.
  • Receives assignments in the form of projects, tickets or use-cases and determines the process and scheduling of execution
  • Other duties as necessary

About You

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 5-10 years of Windows OS management experience
  • 5-10 years of network or system administration experience
  • Linux and Storage administration experience strongly desired
  • Experience with Ansible, Chef or Puppet is desired
  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
  • Working knowledge of virtualization: RedHat Virtualization (oVirt), VMWare, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Display an understanding of new trends and technologies related to IT Security and Compliance.
  • Knowledge in key areas such as: Firewalls, IDS, IPS, VPN, Remote Access, Security Logging, Vulnerability Management, Security Incident Response, Penetration testing a plus
  • Knowledge of DNS usage in corporate environments, from the endpoint up through global usage
  • Solid understanding and discipline in following processes and procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify issues in technologies or process deficiencies.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain utmost confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, with technical and non-technical persons.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary range: $75,000 - $125,000, based on experience.
