SECURE RPO is Hiring a Public Relations Manager Near New York, NY

Job Description:

As part of a highly collaborative team comprised of both in-house media professionals and agency support—and reporting to the Senior Director of Content Strategy—this individual will proactively identify and secure media coverage opportunities including interviews and commentary with national and leading business and trade news outlets; industry trend pieces; high-profile byline article placements; award submissions and more, in alignment with firm and practice objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify, develop and pitch compelling story ideas that are consistent with strategic priorities and objectives and raise brand awareness for the firm and its lawyers.
  • Craft captivating press releases, pitches, byline article abstracts, and other types of content that sufficiently elevate and differentiate the firm in a crowded market.
  • Leverage established reporter relationships (and constantly develop new ones) to solidify Pillsbury’s position as a go-to firm for expert commentary relating to the law.
  • Provide firm authors with guidance for improving and strengthening thought leadership ideas and drafts, whether published internally or externally.
  • Spearhead third-party recognition nominations, in collaboration with business development colleagues.
  • Provide counsel and couching for pending media opportunities, including in relation to interview best practices, issue positioning, background/ talking points preparation.
  • Interface regularly with colleagues across the business development and marketing functions to source newsworthy topics and developments for potential coverage.
  • Assist in devising responses to reputational and crisis management issues, as required.
  • Oversee media-related administrative tasks such as maintenance of media contact lists, use of media monitoring platforms, and internal circulation of media coverage highlights.
  • All other duties as assigned or required.

Required Education, Knowledge And Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or a similar field.
  • Experience interacting with and providing counsel to senior executives.
  • A proven track record of success nurturing relationships with key reporters and editors.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • An innate curiosity to learn.

  • Resourcefulness and self-starter’s mindset.
  • Comfort working under pressure and managing concurrent projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Unimpeachable integrity, discretion and judgment.
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite; at ease learning and utilizing new technologies and platforms.
  • Ability to work extended hours and/or travel, as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $140,000.00 - $195,000.00 per year
