Second Street Associates is Hiring a Campaign Field Director Near Pontiac, MI

Location: Oakland County, MI (travel to Michigan is required until the end of the program)

Type: Full-Time | 1099 Contract

Salary: $54,000 - $72,000 per year depending on experience. Housing (AirBNB), transportation (including flights), and gas expenses covered.

Our mission is to empower residents and businesses to adopt energy-saving practices and technologies to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate climate change.

Job Description:

Energy Savings Now is seeking a passionate and dynamic Political Field Director to lead our grassroots efforts in Oakland County, Michigan. The Political Field Director will play a crucial role in executing our energy savings program, managing canvassers, mobilizing volunteers, and engaging with the community to drive participation in energy efficiency initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Start as a canvasser to understand the program, processes, and procedures before transitioning into the role of Political Field Director.
  • Develop and implement field plans to promote energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives in targeted communities within Ann Arbor and surrounding areas.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage a team of canvassers to conduct outreach and educate residents about energy-saving opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and supervision to canvassers, ensuring they meet performance targets and adhere to program protocols.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including local government agencies, environmental organizations, and community groups, to maximize outreach and engagement efforts.
  • Utilize data and analytics to track the performance of canvassers, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to optimize outcomes.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the campaign leadership team on field activities, outcomes, and challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing energy efficiency programs and canvassing activities.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in grassroots organizing, political campaigns, or community outreach, preferably in energy efficiency or environmental advocacy preferred but NOT required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and effectively manage a diverse team of canvassers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using a personal computer for work purposes and comfortable with technology platforms for communication and data management.
  • Commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and promoting energy-saving practices.
  • Willingness to start as a canvasser to gain a deep understanding of the program and its objectives before transitioning into a leadership role.
