Seaweed is Hiring a Cultivation Technician Near Portland, ME

SeaWeed Co. has immediate openings at our cultivation facility in Portland for those that have a passion for cannabis and have experience in or are interested in learning about cultivation. SeaWeed Co. is known for its quality and attention to detail in an organized and compliant work environment. We value having a diverse and collaborative team.

This position reports to the Cultivation Manager and is responsible for all aspects of daily cultivation duties from facility cleanliness to plant care and processing following the plant through its life cycle from vegetation through harvest and curing or packaging for extraction.

Core Duties

  • Cultivation Duties: adhering to cultivation SOPs including but not limited to: irrigation, pruning, harvesting and pest management.
  • Propagation of plant material from cuttings.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of grow rooms, equipment, tools.
  • Processing, trimming and packaging as needed
  • Data entry into a system of record.
  • Maintaining equipment organization, maintenance and scheduling
  • Attention to state and local compliance issues
  • Understand and follow all safety protocols.
  • Record data for all procedures using computer systems and hard copy logs,
  • Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to SOPs, and keeping cultivation rooms, storerooms, and working areas clean.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with cannabis or other industrial cultivation and/or willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of irrigation strategies and plant training techniques
  • Experience using climate control i.e. Agrowtek, TrolMaster or other
  • Experience with data collection technologies i.e Aroya, Growlink or other
  • High standard for cleanliness and organization.
  • Ability to collaborate well with a team.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Punctuality, ability to work to a schedule.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Read and follow manuals for Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Critical thinking and communication skills
  • Ability to use email and digital scheduling software

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older pursuant to Maine State Law..
  • Must currently have, or be able to acquire, a state of Maine Individual Identification Card. This requires an extensive background check conducted on an annual basis, pursuant to Maine State Law.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Agricultural or other plant-related work experience preferred.
  • Cannot be involved in cannabis cultivation at home or at another location other than for this role with SeaWeed Co.
  • Must have reliable transportation

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Ability to work on one’s feet for 8 hours in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to stand and work on a ladder for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a pallet jack.
  • Ability to work with hands overhead for extended periods of time.
