Job Title: Seasonal Sports Nutrition Intern Department: Player Performance Reports To: Team Performance Dietician SUMMARY Assist in the planning and execution of all culinary/food service, clinical and performance-based nutrition. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Recipe development and procurement of all performance and recovery snacks
Manage daily tasks such as stocking refrigerators and coolers, setting up supplement stations, stocking snack station and making nutrition shakes
Assist in managing ordering, inventory and stocking of Player Lounge/Fueling station
Assist in menu planning and nutrient analysis of menu items with the Head Chef and Food Service Manager
Assist in managing meal and menu app (Teamworks Nutrition)
Assist in player education initiatives and development of resources
Counseling/developing plans for return to play/injured players
Collaborate and communicate with staff from Coaching, Strength and Conditioning, Sport Medicine, Food Services, Administration and Players
Participate in Sports Performance meetings
Assist in player data collection and analysis (hydration, weights, body composition, intake, etc.)
Stay up to date on recent research of various nutritional products, practices and supplements
Monthly article reviews with supervisor (journal club)
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics; Exercise Physiology (required)
Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Eligible (preferred)
Food Handlers Permit (required)
Experience with food service
6 months experience in collegiate or professional sports nutrition environment (required)
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as Adobe Acrobat and Canva and able to learn various performance software quickly
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders
Strong skills including: problem solving, action planning, time management, punctuality, organization, dependability, attention to detail, observant, creative
Understanding of HIPPA and professional codes of conduct
Primary Location: VMAC – 12 Seahawks Way, Renton, WA 98056 Timeframe: July 15, 2024 – end of NFL season (January/February 2025) Hours and Compensation:
Maximum hours per week: 45
Training Camp: July 15th – August 30th (6-7 days/week)
Regular Season September 2, 2024 – January 2025 (5-6 days/week)
Compensation is hourly with overtime hours where appropriate
2 – 3 meals/day provided depending on football schedule
Non-travel position
